ASTON LOSES A HERO

The Officers and Members of the Marcus Hook Trainer Fire Department would like like to send our deepest sympathy to the Jones Family and Aston-Beechwood Fire Company on the passing of Life Member Ron Jones. Ron dedicated 24 years of his life to serve the community as a member of Station 72. He will be missed by all who knew him. Rest in Peace Ron.

Viewing will be Thursday September 2nd at 6pm - 9pm and Friday morning at 9am - 10am. Services will be after the viewing on Friday morning. Viewing and services will be at Minshall-Shropshire Funeral home at 352/Knowlton Roads. There will be a firefighters procession from MSFH to Aston-Beechwood Fire Company where we will have a luncheon.
 


 
68-1 COVERS 12

68-1 along with 57-2 (Upland) covered station 12 (Eddystone) as they and surrounding companies were on a drill. We covered from 19:00 to 21:00 without turning a wheel. Thank you to station 12 for asking us to cover and hope to do it again


 
WORKING BASEMENT FIRE IN 39'S LOCAL

Just before 1800hrs companies 39,68,40,55,61,Truck 13 Engine 42 that was covering for 63, Rit 45 and Medic 100-7 were dispatched to 135 Ervin Ave for a house fire. Just as units starting hitting the street pd went on scene with a working fire in the basement. Engine 39 and Tower 61 arrived first with smoke showing and 39-12A(Fuller) took the Ervin Ave command til the arrival of 39-9B(C.Durbano).Crews stretched an 1 3/4 to the basement to find an active fire in the basement. Rescue 40 dropped a line into Engine 39 from Ervin and Yates. The fire was knocked down within the first 10 minutes and the incident was placed under control shortly there after. WORKING FIRE IN FIRST DUE

Just after 0100hrs The company along with 39(lower chi) 40(boothwyn), 61(reliance) RIT 63(green ridge) were dispatched to 1 East 9th street  for the building.  Chief 68(J.McClure) as well as Ladder 68 arrived with "Fire Showing" from both floors of a Vacant House. The Chief established the "9th Street"  while Ladder 68 went in service. Rescue 39 arrived and stretched 5"  into  ladder 68 then crews from Rescue 39 went in-service with fire suppression stretching another line off of ladder 68 to division 2, while Rescue 40's crew started a primary search of the exposure building. Due to the fire conditions a second alarm was struck which brought Engine 14(Swarthmore), Engine 12(Eddystone), Ladder 65(Garden City), and RIT 45(Parkside). Telesqurt 50(Middletown) was also called into the scene to assist.  Crews worked for several hours to contain the fire. Great job to all units on scene. Spicial thanks go out to engine 49(Milmont) engine 12(Eddystone) and engine 14(Swarthmore) for covering the local while we were out. Also special thanks to Brandon Fuller for the pics.

68 TAKES HOME 1 AT HACKS POINT

Today several members traveled down to Hacks Point MD for there 28Th Annual parade. The members have spent some time cleaning for this and it has paid off. We took home 1ST place for Best Appearing Special apparatus for Utility 68. A good time was had by all. We look forward to next year. we also like to congratulate 55(OGDEN) and 72(ASTON-BEACHWOOD) on their trophy's.


 
R.I.P. PAST CHIEF CHARLEY HORNBERGER

The Officers and Members of The Marcus Hook Trainer Fire Company would like to send there most heart felt condolances to the Milmont Fire Company,  for the death of Past Chief Charles Hornberger.

Charlie passed away on July 12th from complications of a heart attack he had after a call on June 30th 2010. Call #45 came in at 11:32 on June 30, 2010, for a fire alarm at the Target Building on MacDade and Milmont Ave.  After the call, Charlie suffered a severe heart attack, and was rushed to Taylor Hospital.

     Charlie was a life member of the Milmont Fire Company, as well as the Vauclain, Holmes and past Rutledge Fire Companies. Charlie held the position of Assistant Engineer, as well as past Deputy Chief of the Milmont Fire Company, and Past Chief of the Vauclain Fire Company. He was also a Dispatcher of 20 years for Ridley Twp. as well as Delaware County. He was an avid fire truck collector, and also enjoyed model railroading. Charlie was also a member of several Delco. Organizations, to include the Delaware Valley Chiefs Assoc.., and the Shamrock Judges. Charlie touched a lot of lives throughout the fire service, and will be missed by all.
    
 


 
LARGE BRUSH FIRE

While we just got back from Aston Township fireworks display company 68 was dispatched for a large brush fire behind the firehouse. 68-9A and 68-7 got on location an had three trash piles and surrounding brushes on fire. 68-1 (D.Smith) went responding seconds after dispatched with a crew of 7 followed by ladder and utility 68 minutes later. 68-1 got on location and was told to hit the hydrant on Penn at the back entrance. The crew from 68-1 stretched a 1 3/4 hand line and started to make an attack on the fire. It took almost ten minutes to bring the fire under control. Great job to all units on scene. Company 68 was off radio at 00:41


 
   
   
ENGINE DOES STANDBY AT ASTON FIREWORKS

On the 4th of July Engine 68-1 along with Rescue 45 covered station 63 as they had their yearly fireworks display. During the cover we received no calls but had a great time watching them. We would like to thank 63 for the invite and can't wait till next year.


 
LADDER DOES STANDBY AT LOWER CHICHESTER FIREWORKS

The Ladder was requested to Standby at the Lower Chichester Fire Works. This event takes place every year around this time. We were asked this year to protect a tarp building in the parking lot of a local business nearby the fireworks display. We spent about 30 mins watering the building before the fireworks.  We would like to thank Lower Chichester for the invite and to say that everyone had a good time and cant wait till next year.
