TWO BUILDING FIRES AND 2 COVERS

A Little after 3 in the morning the box was going out for the building fire to the VallyBrook apartments in Aston. Engine 63 arrived first with smoke showing on the roof. Rescue 39 arrived and staged at the hydrant while Truck 63 checked the roof. 68-2(J.McClure) made the response and arrived next and staged in manpower pool. It was determined that it was a heater malfunction and the assignment was held to 63.

Units on scene were ENG/LAD 63, RES 39, 68-2, TOWER 61 RES 72 AND RES 13

At 13:28 Company 68 was dispatched for ladder 68 and rescue 47(Chester Township) to cover station 61(Reliance) while they were on a working fire in 72's local Aston Beechwood). Ladder 68 (J.McClure) with 4 made the response. While covering station 61 fireboard advised ladder 68 that we would be covering 63's local (Green Ridge) as well. Ladder 68 was cleared from 61 at 13:48 and then headed to 63's house till 15:14 before returning available.

At 22:06 companies 63,72,68,39,61 and NCC Rit 13 were dispatched to the 100 block of Richard RD in Aston Township. 68-2 (J.McClure) with 6 went responding then recalled in-route. The company was available at 22:12

ACCIDENT WITH CAR ON IT'S SIDE

At 4:05 in the morning Company 68 was dispatched to Post RD & Hewes Av for the accident with the car on its side. 85 car reported the car on it;s side with no entrapment and the telephone pole snapped at the bottom.

Medic 100-7 arrived and transported the patient for chest pains. 68-9A and 68-2(A.Brooks) with 6 arrived and assisted with sweeping and clearing the roadway. 68-9A and 68-2 stayed on scene till the tow truck and peco arrived. Company 68 was off radio at 4:53


 
TWO BUILDING FIRES TO UPPER CHI ONE WORKING

The company along with the rest of the upper chi building response was dispatched to the high school for the building fire. Engine 40 arrived first with an odor of smoke near the cafeteria while the students were being evacuated. Tower 61 and Rescue 39 arrived next and assisted Engine 40 with the investigation. Ladder 68 and Truck 63 arrived and was sent to manpower in front of Rescue 39. The source was finally found and units were made available. Companies on scene 40,55,61,39,68,63 and NCC Rit 13.

Later in the day the upper chi box alarm was dispatched to the 2100 block of ChiChester Avenue for the building fire. Ladder 68(J.McClure) and 68-1 with 10 hit the streets in no time. Engine 40 arrived first on scene with smoke showing from the second floor apartment building and went in service with a 1 3/4 line. Rescue 40 arrived next and hit the hydrant on Randall & Sharpless. Ladder 68 arrived after Truck 63 and crews from 63 and 68 assisted with primary and secondary searches and threw ground ladders on all sides of the building and also checked the roof area with negative findings. It was reported to be a bedroom fire on the second floor from the crew off Engine 40 who made a quick knock. Not long after it was scaled back to company 40.

UC-9 (Rob Powers) had the ChiChester Command.

Units on scene were 40,55,61,39,68,63 and NNC Rit 13

CHRISTMAS PARTY 2011

On December 9th the members got together for the yearly Christmas party which was held in the hall at the firehouse. The night started off with dinner and then the awards. Then everyone danced the night away till about 12am. A great time was had by everybody and members still talking about it. We would like to thank Truck 63(GREEN RIDGE) for providing coverage till 6 am during the event.

The following people received awards at the 2011 MHTFD Christmas party.

TOP FIRE RUNNER: Joey smith

CHIEFS AWARD: Tony Capasso, Dan Smith and Mike McClure JR.

OUTSTANDING SERVICE AWARD: Alfone Jackie Brooks

This year the company made up a new award called the (Presidents Award) and president Tony Capasso who presented to: BYE HEACOCK

SEARCH AND RESCUE TRAILER COMES TO 68

During this weeks drill we had the County's mobile search and rescue trailer for training. Members did various evoloutions and situations related to search and rescue.


 
   
   
WORKING FIRE IN HOOKs LOCAL

At 05:59 Company 68, 39, Rescue 40, Tower 61, Truck 63, RIT 45, and Medic 100-7 were dispatched to the 500 block of Market Street for the building. 68-9(J.McClure) went responding shorty after as well as 68-1(R.Croff). 68-9(J.McClure) arrived on location and reported heavy smoke showing and took Market Street Command and instructed 68-1 to lay in from 7th Street. 68-1s crew stretched a line and started to look for the fire. The fire was found in the basement and the crews went in service with extinguishment of the fire. Crews got a quick knock on fire and requested ventilation. Crews from companies 63, 40, and 39 performed search and rescue operations and ventilation as well. 68 was avaiable shortly after 08:30.


 
BUILDING FIRE IN 39s LOCAL

Shortly before 18:00 Lower Chi's box alarm was struck for a reported building fire on Sterling Avenue. 39-9b (Fuller) was the first to arrive and had a 2 story end of the row with fire showing from the front door and assumed command. Ladder 68(A.Brooks) went responding shortly after the call came in. Ladder 68(A.Brooks) arrived on location and crews assisted with extinguishment of the fire on the second floor, checking for extensions in the exposure building, and assisted crews from 63 in the basement.
